Media loading screen on fb messenger

I have a Moto Z3 play, last few days I haven't been able to load media to send in the messenger app. Has grey loading media box but nothing happens. I've tried a couple "fixes" and still nothing seems to work.

Are you sending the message as an MMS, or as a FB Chat message? Is the media saved to Internal Storage or the SD card?

FB chat message, and I have media on both internal and sd card. I've had the phone for about a week. It worked fine until recently

Hmm, I don't use FB Messenger, so I can't give direct assistance. Have you already tried clearing FB Messenger's app cache in the Settings>Apps​ menu?

Yes I've done that already. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled the app and haven't had any success. I'm usually pretty tech savvy.

Any recent updates to Chrome? If so, sometimes an accompanying update to Android System Webview can cause some glitchiness. As a test, you could try uninstalling updates to Chrome temporarily.
