Forum admins - I have been unable to find a link to report apparently spammy posts. However, there appear to be a large number of posts today in Chinese or Japanese with links to some sort of Casino/Gambling site.

Hello,

To report posts click on the triangle in the top right hand side of the post, then type the reason you are reporting it and submit that report . Thanks

I access this through Tapatalk, and don't see any triangle in the upper right side. Guess that's not an option for me, then.

Edit: Just saw that if you tap on the 3 dots in the upper right, there's an pop up that includes "report." Learned something today!

Yes, I see the triangle with the exclamation mark. It is in gray which is why I never paid much attention to it. I am slightly surprised that spammy posts should make it through - there are very reliable ways now to block such content.

Yep. Happens everyday. We get it when we can.

Yep there are but there is no filter that's perfect. There are also other ways that I won't discuss out loud. Either way.. nothing is perfect. Spam happens everywhere.

Most members do not see the spam posts that we receive. Such posts are usually detected quickly and removed. The posters are infracted and banned, their posts are soft-deleted so that we have a record of their IP address, then moved to the Graveyard subforum, accessible only to Moderators. Reams upon reams of worthless rubbish have accrued in there over the years: premium-rate astrology numbers; premium-rate black magic and sorcery consultations claimed to make someone love you; concoctions claimed to enhance sexual performance; fake passports, driving licences, immigration papers and educational credentials; dietary supplements pretending to make you thin; direct links to dubious apps or software sites; abusive and profane posts; and so on. Hard-deleting these posts is useless, since we then have no trace of the IP address, which the banned poster will often use again when re-registering under a different username. So we soft-delete and banish all to Graveyard, a sort of Hades of Android Central. Taking a look in there is not pleasant.

Moderators aim to maintain the forums to the required family-friendly standard, and rely on members to Report spam and other unacceptable posts. Thanks to all who do.

Have you seen other forums? The spam here is miniscule (and very short-lived) in comparison, thanks to the work of the Mod team.

BTW, I moved this to the Site Feedback forum.
