When casting from pc the screen no longer stop playing the video

hi all
i've been casting from my pc to my tv(chromecast) since they almost came out, but recently i've noticed when casting to my tv my screen is not switching off like before so now i have the content playing on both screens. it used to be a blank screen that said something like screen mirroring/casting to tv and it would stay blank.
but that doesn't seem to happen anymore

That's Casting Optimization and yes, it's been finicky as of late... One thing that works for me is to make sure the tab I'm using to cast (if using a browser) is refreshed and hasn't been casting, and also what seems to trigger it is that you have to run the video in full screen ( if I don't, the optimizing option never kicks in).
