My new Google Nest home max does not see 5ghz Wifi. My Sony tv, Pixel 5, Samsung from my girl friend, works without problem, but Nest hub not at all. The distance between router and Nest hub is less 1/2 metre.I tried resetting both, the google home app on phone and Nest Hub itself and the router but without success. Do you have suggestion?

Hi, I am not even sure how it connects. Mine is connected to a Google WiFi router which has both spectrums auto switching. I don't know which protocol it connects to. A lot of smart home devices only connect to 2.4ghz WiFi. Perhaps this is the same with the nest hub max?

So when you're setting up the Nest Hub Max, the 5 GHz SSID doesn't even show up in the list of available networks?

Yes, that's right. I tried to change channels from 36-128, but without success.
In fact, once or twice, during the first installation (three days ago) when I put the channel on 36, Nest hub saw the network but did not connect. After that, and I've tried many times, it doesn't see 5 ghz wifi at all

Hmm, which brand and model is your router? If it's relatively old, you might need to consider upgrading to a newer one.

It sounds like you know your way around the router settings, but just in case -- is the DHCP range set to a large number?

Sorry, not sure what to do next. You could wait for a firmware update from the router manufacturer, but that might never come. Getting a new router is still my only suggestion at this point.

It is on 2.4ghz, for now ;) and it works ok. IP support said to me that new firmware for the router is on the way ( not sure that it is true ;) ) My friend come from UK for a couple of weeks with new Nest hub max and we will try on my router. He also has Linksys router and I will try that option.
In principle I am satisfied but I see that there are many cases like mine, and I'm just trying to put things in the way it has to be ;)

Good to hear that the support team acknowledged a firmware update coming soon -- I doubt they'd say that if it weren't pretty solid information!:)
