Wow is about all I can say......

I ordered my first Nexus 4 device and received it back in Nov (I was one of the lucky ones). I have loved the phone through its good and not so good to the point where we were ordering one for my wife.

For Canada, the Nexus 4 (16GB) is listed to ship in 3-5 days. Upon placing my order, it stated that the phone would ship by the 24th at the latest. On the 25th I followed up to Google Play with an e-mail. They send their typical "canned" response that shipping takes two days. I responded by letting them know their canned e-mail was not addressing the issue.

I followed up again on the 26th (+2 days), and the Google Play rep advised that they were going to send the matter to a "shipping specialist" to check into the delay. She noted at that time that my order was in "pending".

I then receive this e-mail an hour ago:

"I understand we've missed the delivery estimate on your order. To stop further delays we've decided to cancel your order.
I've cancelled order #15731260465432498277.1527284096480610 so you will not be charged for this order.
If you still wish to receive your device please place a new order. I will reimburse your shipping costs as a courtesy due to previous delays.
We hope you continue to use Play Store.
Thanks,
David"

Let us be clear - David failed every math course he has ever taken. In what world does David live where canceling an order is faster than trying to complete the initial one.

Google - Does your incompetence know no bound?!!

I am so DONE with dealing with Google as a "company".

Google - you are garbage.

The only thing I can think of is that the initial order got lost in processing or had some other problem that would create further delays to sort it out.

Any decent analyst, investor, or person who just values corporate edicate will tell you Google, Inc. is an amazing company. Seems "David" is a moron. It happens. I would be PO'd as well.

Without knowing what you wrote to them, it's impossible to determine if their decision to cancel the order was an appropriate response.

If you're serious, I wish you the best of luck with Yahoo and/or Bing.

In a lot of systems, retail and otherwise, it's often easier and quicker to start over than to try and resolve a problem...it's not that complicated. Sucks about the delay, but at least they're giving you free shipping. And you're talking a couple of days...it's not like you waited months or something.

It's unfair to call David a moron. He wouldn't just do something in a whim and iyrwith the company's policy. Therefore, it us Google' policy for this event that should be the target if critisism and not the individual following it.

It is all too easy to criticise some one when they are just a faceless voice on the other end if the phone or a signature at the button if a post or blog, but they are human beings as well. Would any of you like to be called an 'idiot' for just doing your job as trained and advised?

You need a hug? It's an unfair dog eat dog world out there, bud. I suggest you stay on the internet where it's safe:D

All kidding aside, agree with mitc5502. I found that out the hard way porting numbers to Tmobile. I apologize to faceless David for possibly incorrectly calling him a moron on the internetz.

Some orders have somehow gone missing since Google launched this phone. People have not received their phone or received it late even when placing orders before other people. Seems like Google just haven't got the ordering process completely figured out yet. Tbh David probably did the right thing as your order will most likely go through now.. plus youll have free shipping.

I can't believe I'm jumping in here...but "David" was probably just following protocol. When dealing with any company's customer service, realize that the people who really know what they are doing and actually have the authority to break protocol are not your first responders. I mean, do you think Bill Gates ever sits down and answers calls for Microsoft? (OK, that's an extreme and silly example, but you see what I'm getting at).

"David" probably got your email, could not track the order down or determine it's status/whereabouts, and then, as instructed, canceled the order and instructed you to re-submit. Why? Because for whatever reason *Google* has determined that this is the best course of action for all parties involved (that is the world David lives in...or at least works in). It may very well be the best course of action, and as others have mentioned, you are at least getting your shipping fees waived.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset or dissatisfied with the resolution you were given, and it's well known that Google's entry into the device-selling realm has been a bumpy one...but "David" is probably not where your anger should be directed.

Doesn't everyone need a hug?
