Buying a movie from Play Store

If I buy my first movie on the Google Play store, I'm assuming I can download it to my SD card.

The FAQs on the stores page makes it seem like you have to be logged in to the store to re-watch the movie each time.

This can't be correct can it? When I purchase this new HD version of this movie, I would like to be able to watch it without an Internet connection.

Can someone help explain?

Welcome to Android Central! I think (but haven't tried it) that you should be able to open the movie in your Google Play Movies app, even when offline. I know I can do this on my Chromebook.

I just confirmed on my Nexus 6P that I can watch a downloaded movie on the Google Play Movies app offline.
