Project Fi, Hangouts & two phone numbers

I have my original Gmail account associated to a new phone number assigned from Project Fi. I created a second Gmail account to use my Verizon number in Hangouts. In Hangouts both email accounts show, although I have the second account selected from the dropdown.

In the settings the main account has Project Fi calls and SMS with the new number. The second account shows Google Voice and has Incoming phone calls and Messages checked. This seems right as I want the old number to ring in Hangouts and the new to ONLY ring with the phone dialer.

The problem is incoming calls to my new Project Fi number seem to activate both dialers. Do I need to log my main account out of Hangouts altogether? Is it possible to do that and still have it logged into other Google services? It's the main account for the phone itself.

Yes, log out of you account with the Fi number. Log in with the secondary account and that will ring in through hangouts. The Fi number will ring on the main dialer.
