Email Problem On Galaxy Nexus

Just got the new Galaxy Nexus and added the three email accounts I had set up on my old Motorola Droid for the past 2 years. These accounts are from two websites I own and not a comcast, verizon, yahoo, etc. account.

Anyhow, the problem I'm having is although I have the settings configured to check for mail every 30 minutes, it doesn't check it. In fact, when opening each account, the circle will just keep spinning along with "Loading" underneath and cycle forever without any mail coming in.

So, what I then need to do is click the Folder Icon, open the In Box and then the mail will be downloaded to phone. Therefore, I can send and receive mail although the phone refuses to check mail on its own using the applied settings.

What do you think is wrong? If the ports were incorrect, the mail wouldn't function, period.

Thanks!

A friend of mine had this happen to his nexus S with an exchange server. He deleted the email accounts and set them back up, that seemed to work.
