Download a file manager app from the Play Store and use it to create a new, separate folder for videos, and any other multimedia files you don't want to indexed and cataloged by apps like the Gallery app. Create a new file in this new folder and name it '.nomedia' (no quotes) The file type isn't an issue, it's the file name in this situation that's the key. Anyway, any media apps that auto-scan folders for media content will skip any folder with a .nomedia file in it.
As for a good file manager, if you're rooted I recommend Root Explorer. If not,. take a look at Solid Explorer or File Expert.
