Fewer worries about scratching the lens

I don't think we'll have to worry about scratching the lens so much. Have a look at pictures 16 & 18 in the Engadget gallery (no way to direct link to them):

In #16 you can see a small gap between the aluminum ring and the lens, and in #18 you see that the alu ring comes off with the plastic case part. Looks to me like this will provide some much needed protection for the lens. Sure, you'll still be able to scratch it, but it'll be a lot harder.

That isn't the lens. It's the filter over the lens.

sorry for being off topic but anyone notice the lack of a sim or microsim slot? does that mean that sprints lte network won't be using sims like verizon?

I was actually wondering the same thing myself. It looks like the cover at the bottom of the phone comes off as well so maybe it could hidden there?

The SIM is embedded. How hard is it to get to? Dunno.

Unlike the EVO 4G, The plastic that covers the lens is slightly recessed and less likely to be scratched when the handset sits on a table.

This phone is also LTE so that's why it has a SIM.

One thing that I believe is worth mentioning with the replaceable lens cover is that this could open up the possibility awesome camera accessories. I'm envisioning replacement covers with integrated lenses, like fish eye, etc. We could see some cool stuff with this.

If that is NFC on the removable cover that will suck. I was hoping that there would be replaceable covers so I could get rid of that ugly glossy black finger print magnet cover.
