OK guys I feel I made a massive mistake,

I wanted to join the rooting bandwagon on my phone but feel ive screwed something up somewhere.

Ok what i did goes like this. I followed the unrevoked method to root/install a custom rom (cyanogen mod 7.1) to my phone, and all seemed to be going perfectly , until recently when i decided i wanted to put my phone COMPLETELY back to stock in terms of the ROM installed on it, and ALSO the HBOOT AND RECOVERY ROM that was on it before i started this.

The LAST rom i managed to flash to was a (as i thought official stock to rom from sprint) but as it turns out it was a modified rom.

The info I am shown when i boot into bootloader is as follows:

*** UNLOCKED ***
SUPERSONIC EVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-2.18. 0001
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2. 15. 00. 12. 19

HBOOT

<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item

FASTBOOT
RECOVERY
CLEAR STORAGE
SIMLOCK
HBOOT USB

The following info is what phone info tells me once i go to settings/about phone/software.

Android Version
2.3.3

Baseband Version
2.15.00.12.19

Kernel Version
2.6.35.10-g13578ee
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
Wed Jul 20 18:06:16 CST 2011

Build number
4.54.651.1 CL134969 release-keys

Software Number
5.54.651.1

PRI Version
2.33_003

PRL Version
60683

One of the main reasons I'm trying to factory reset, is that when i try to update the phone now from sprint it downloads the update, but then refuses to install it (2.3.5) which is kinda annoying , oh and please don't bite my head off I'm new to this game!

Thanks in advance

Martin

Note what I highlighted in red in you quote.... That means you are NOT unlocked... You need to ne nand unlocked (s=off) in order to root.

I take it back.... according to this thread http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...26-guide-rooting-phone-hboot-2-18-0001-a.html you do not need s-off to root with the new bootloader..... good luck!

Yeah I know that i don't need s-off and also that with the latest bootloader i can root it WITHOUT s-off, however i feel you mis-understood me as I'm NOT trying to root my phone, I am now trying to completely set it back to factory settings, boot-loader, recovery image, ROM the lot!

I'm currently trying the ruu method, but with that it either hangs on the black screen with htc silver logo on the phone (and 14%) on the ruu app on my laptop.

thanks for the reply though at this point I appreciate ANY and ALL the help I can get!

It can be downgraded, but it's a complicated process, requiring an advanced/power user. Not for the faint of heart . . .

I don't know if you have gotten this issue resolved, but even if you have, this information will be very helpful for you and anyone in the future that views this blog.

This is actually a very easy and simple process. There is no need to fret about this procedure. As long as you follow the steps EXACTLY. You will have no problems. :)
This is how to fully restore your HTC EVO 4G Phone back to it's original factory settings when it was shipped from HTC to Sprint. This is great for people who need to start from the beginning or just need to send in their phone to sprint for repairs.

What you need to look for is RUU. That is how this is done.

You will need to download these files:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=875830&d=1327702896

2. http://keetsa.com/files/RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe

The best tutorial that I have found is here: xda-developers - View Single Post - How to Un-Root Revolutionary Root ?

Kind Regards,
