So, I just rooted my evo using this method (http://www.androidcentral.com/evo-4g-root-instructions) and I can't seem to install any root apps. WiFi tether won't work and titanium backup won't work. Questions:

1. Why won't these apps work?
2. What do I do to get these apps to work?
3. Do I have Su permissions?
4. Do I NEED to install a custom Rom to get these to work?
5. Now that I am rooted, will unrEVOked work?
6. Is unrevoked the only way to get Su without a custom Rom?
7. What am i doing wrong.

I'm not going to be much help, but at zero replies I will tell you what I know.

using unrEVOked will do everything you listed.

There is a ROM that has several apps pre-installed including tether that you should be able to use.

If you phone is rooted properly an app like ROM manager is probably the easiest way to load custom roms (the pay version has a wide variety you can D/L rather than put them on SD.) Info here

If tether is all that you want i think unrEVOked is the easiest / cleanest way to do it. I'm just not sure if you will have issues w/ installing it on top of what you have already done.

My guess is you rooted but then didn't load a custom rooted rom afterwards.

Once you are root you still have to go in the custom recovery and wipe dalvic cache etc and flash a rooted rom.
