cannot unroot?

ok so following what the sticky says to unroot, it says hold the volume rocker up and power button that was wrong it is volume rocker down and power (thanks dante 501), now i get to step 6 where it says to run the RUU and i get this error when i start to run it:

is there another way to unroot besides this method?

You are sure that you put the phone into developer mode?

yup phone was sitting on the skateboarding android screen when i clicked the RUU on my computer desktop

Just keep trying, it should work eventually. I've read of some trying the ruu over 10x before it worked. And turn debugging on before you start. Good luck

the way i got lucky and did it was to load into bootloader(HBOOT) and then when it asks you to apply the PC36IMG instead of hitting no hit yes, this will take you all the way back to out of the box stock 2.1 then just apply all the official OTA's by searching for HTC software updates in the software update settings menu... after 2-4 of them you will be at the newest stock ota, and i promise you will be happy with the performance!
