Small portion of touch screen no longer responsive

I've noticed this occured a couple of days ago. Part of my touchscreen has all of a sudden stopped responding. If I open up the mail application and try to click on the first email in the list, it will not respond. I can click any of the others. Also with the keyboard in landscape mode the 's' key will not respond. All other keys respond it just seems that the non-responsive area is localized to a specific part of the screen. Any ideas on why or how the could occur? I have not done any updates as of yet to Gingerbread as I didn't want any grief from Sprint if I had to take my phone back in,(which I would rather avoid).

Sounds like just a faulty screen. Pack it up and take into Sprint is going to be your best bet.
