Phone constantly freezes - have to battery pull at least once/day

For the last two weeks, my phone will freeze or become very very laggy forcing me to restart or pull the battery. I haven't downloaded any new apps and only use safe apps anyway. I've scanned for any malware or virus but the phone is clean.

Any idea what can be causing this and what I can do to fix it? I just had to do 2 battery pulls within 20 minutes of each other.

not only is it still happening, i'm starting to notice it happens when i plug it in to a charger like my car charger or the usb charger connected to my computer. plugged it in to my phone to charge right now and just reboot on its own

Is your phone rooted or stock?

Rooted, I would suggest re flashing any ROM or kernels/mods you maybe using.

stock, have you tried a factory reset?

it is stock. i literally just checked this thread right now to see if there was anything i could do before resetting. about to do that now.

did a factory reset and still having the same problems. i'd think it's an app but i only have legit apps from big companies, nothing that would be remotely shady. fml
