Greetings everyone,

So after having Galaxy S7 for over 3 years I finally upgraded and got P30 Pro. Now I have seen reviewers, youtubers, websites RAVING about Night mode. Where in almost pitch black the camera performs amazing things? So I have 2 questions:
1. Am I doing something wrong?
2. IS there an issue with my phone?

Night mode takes slightly better image than my S7 did, to be honest what I see on the screen is what I get as end result.
Took a photo in dark room (with windows opened so light from outside is present) ITS PITCH BLACK:

Went outside to the garden, tried to keep the phone still as much as I could, used night mode, got probably worst shot I have ever made:

What is happening? Is there something wrong with my phone or camera? Please advise.

I used night mode in camera app.

These pictures were both taken with normal mode.

While I agree it seems some reviews led you to believe you could literally take a picture in the dark...I tried in a bathroom with zero light and didn't get very good results... In very low light, it does capture a pretty good picture where another phone, such as my G6 couldn't take a picture at all.

In my line of work, this is exactly what I needed, along with the extremely long battery life. I use my phone quite hard at work for pictures and often in my case I am in burnt buildings that are boarded up and not much light. Flashlights were my option, however typically my flashlight was so bright that the contrast between the lit area and surrounding areas were so high that it made for poor pictures. I've yet to use my phone in the field.

Did you buy a flash light where you can mount a diffuser in front ?
That should give you a much wider equally lit area (some area will still have most light, but really much better than without the diffuser).
