I just made the switch from HTC Touch Pro 2 w/ winmo 6.5, (BOOOO!!!) to EVO w/ Android 2.2 (YAYYY!!!!)...im not exactly an idiot when it comes to new tech devices but i am wondering if i root my EVO will i lose all the currently installed apps and my personal data?

As far as I know, rooting won't delete your personal data...Until you decide to install a custom rom, if there is one for it. I could be mistaken, though...

Welcome to A/C. Rooting is just giving you superuser access to your device and nothing else. But apps like MyBackupPro and Titanium Backup can backup your device. I prefer Titanium Backup just because you can freeze apps like CityID.
