Default dialing fax instead of "work" number

My Moto Droid Turbo with KitKat is frequently dialing "work fax" instead of the primary work number.

I have seen how to long press on a number and set it as default but I have hundreds of contacts.

I sync a corporate account to Exchange and everything else works great. They're all in sync and all the numbers show up but somehow work fax got set to default on all the contacts when viewed in the stock People app in the phone.

Is there a bulk way to tell the phone how to prioritize number types?

Unfortunately, not from the stock app, and what's more, you can't edit the 'default' property from the Google Contacts webpage (since that's more manageable in a computer screen), it has to be done in the phone itself

This was bothering me again today so I tried searching and came across my own thread, I guess I did ask this here. Is there seriously no way to make this dumb phone not call a fax machine as the first choice when a contact has a fax number specified? WTF!?
