Contact Photo not saving

So I'm setting up a new phone and am new to Android. I had some photos on a microSD card which I was going to use to add pics to contacts.

I go to save a pic to a contact and it saves. But minutes later, the picture gets cleared and it's the default background for the contact. Is there some reason it's disappearing? Is it because the picture is located on the microSD card (even though i didn't remove the card)? I would imagine they would take some kind of thumbnail or copy for the contact picture rather than using the microSD card.

Welcome back! Things like this do tend to be related to the storage location. Try moving the photo to Internal Storage (like in the Pictures directory).

It's not the microSD card. I transferred the pictures to internal storage and the same problem. The contacts won't save the picture. It will appear to save and display on the contacts properly. But soon thereafter, the image is removed.

Hmm. Is it a jpg or png file? (Not sure if that would really matter, though.)

Which phone do you have? See if it happens in Safe Mode.
