How many of you leave scanning on for Wifi? Does it take that much of a hit on battery?

I turn off all that stuff. unless you want more accurate location data for your social stuff, but then it'd make it that more accurate for authorities to track you. And data miners, and Google, and, every app. Plus it does eat more battery.

Thanks. I thought that too. My problem is that I have apps that apparently need this enabled to get your location, if not connected to a network via WiFi.

It as well as BT scanning turned off b/c it resulted in a weaker signals...

I used to turn those settings off a long time ago, on older phones. I think newer phones are much more energy efficient, so I don't think it makes a significant difference. If you're really trying to squeeze every drop of juice out of your battery, I suppose it's reasonable to turn it off.

I've tried WiFi Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning both on and off on a couple of phones and it didn't seem to make much of a difference in battery usage for either. I leave them both on these days.

Yes, I think I agree that it's best to leave both Bluetooth scsnning and Wifi scanning on, since they don't use that much battery and improve location accuracy.

I'm not sure if you did turn Location Services Bluetooth Scanning off, but had the Find My Device using crowd-sourced network settings turned on, would the device still be doing Bluetooth scanning to allow the location finding offline?
