Loving my G2 and I understand that it allows several connectivity options. I'm behind the tech curve, as I bought my first hdmi cable only a year ago. ;).

I'm looking for the simplest way to wirelessly stream pictures, video and music (primarily from local and cloud storage) from my G2 to my TV/stereo. I have a Vizio "smart" tv and I'm in the market for a new stereo receiver. I don't have, nor am I interested in, any gaming consoles - though they do seem to have the type of connectivity I'm looking for.

I'm not having much luck researching this to a point of clarity for me. There appears to be endless options, technologies and terminology tossed about. What I do know is that when I want to "smart share" content, or use wifi direct, the G2 doesn't recognize any wireless devices in my home (tv, router, even my wifi printer or PC). Is this because these other devices are not dlna compatible? I'm not sure I'm even asking the right questions. :(

If someone could help clarify or, perhaps better, point me to a good resource of information, it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion. What would be the best hardware solution though? From what I have seen, the PS3 seems to have sufficient capability to stream pictures, video and music from a pc (I assume it can do the same from the G2). The storage is a nice added value as well. The thing is, I don't need the gaming capability of the PS3. I'd just like something that can:

1.) play music apps (pandora, slacker, spotify, etc.)

2.) play my music library

3.) play device stored, as well as cloud based, pictures, videos and movies.

...from my G2, PC and iPad 3 - in that order of priority, to my home TV/stereo system.

Most of that you can do without having to use the DLNA feature.

Pandora and spotify are strictly streaming music services so you just stream the music over wifi

you can use google+ to store your pictures and Google Play Music to stream music from your PC/google cloud storage to your phone

Other options for pictures and other files would be a free "Box" cloud storage (I think G2 users are still getting 50 gigs free... I did)

Finally, you can use Chromecast to stream pictures and videos to your phone.

I too have a Vizio "Smart" TV although its one of the older ones and I can't stream directly from my phone to it. I might check into it though to see if I have any available firmware updates...
