Activate your sim card if it isn't already by going to the MetroPCS website and clicking "Activate Device" at the top of the page.
Follow the instructions it gives you and then turn of your g3, open it up and replace your T-MO SIM with your metro SIM. put the cover back on and turn it on and it should be working.
If data doesn't work, then make sure the APN settings are correct. Here's how to set them:
1. Reset APN to Default
Before beginning these directions, insert your activated MetroPCS SIM card.

Go to Settings
Tap the Connections tab if your device has a tab view; if not go to step 3
Tap More networks (or More, Wireless & networks, Wireless Controls, Wireless Manager, Phone Information)
Mobile networks
Access Point Names
Tap the Menu + icon to add a new APN
Tap Reset to default
2. Add MetroPCS APN Settings
Go to Settings
Tap the Connections tab if your device has a tab view; if not go to step 3
Tap More networks (or More, Wireless & networks, Wireless Controls, Wireless Manager, Phone Information)
Mobile or Cellular networks
Access Point Names
Tap the Menu + icon to add a new APN
Enter APN settings
Name: MetroPCS
APN: fast.metropcs.com
APN type: If there is a free form field, enter the following exactly as written without spaces: default, mms, supl
If your device has a series of check boxes rather than a free form field, check all the boxes that correspond with the values listed above. For example: your device has checkboxes for default, mms, supl, wap and ia. Check only default, mms and supl.
If it's not set, enter 310 for MCC.
If it's not set, enter 260 for MNC.
For APN protocol, enter IPv4
Tap the Menu key/icon
Tap Save
Select MetroPCS as your APN
Restart your device and wait for it to find the MetroPCS network--this may take a minute or so
Confirm that you're able to access data
If you experience issues with data, try resetting the APN protocol and APN roaming protocol to IPv4 and IPv6.

3. Add MetroPCS MMS APN Settings
Name: MetroPCS MMS
APN: fast.metropcs.com
APN type: Type in or select (if available): mms
MMSC: http://metropcs.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
If it's not set, enter 310 for MCC.
If it's not set, enter 260 for MNC.
For APN protocol, enter IPv4
For APN roaming protocol, enter IPv4
Tap the Menu key/icon
Tap Save
Select MetroPCS as your APN - your phone will use the MMS APN settings automatically as it needs to.
Restart your device and wait for it to find the MtroPCS network--this may take a minute or so
Confirm that you're able to send and receive picture, video and group messages.

Also, your G3 MUST NOT have any equipment installment plan payments left on T-mobile, as in you own the device outright.
