Its not often that I (or we as a general public consumer) have all that much to get excited about when it comes to cell phones. I guess out of habit and reluctance to change, I always went the Motorola Droid path. I had every incarnation from the original Droid, to Droid 2, 3, Global, 4 (what an awful choice) Razr Maxx, Maxx, and Turbo. All were pretty decent (well except the droid 4, which seemed to run out of battery life by about 10:30am AND no removable battery), but never offered me anything all that exciting. I hit my breaking point with the Turbo, which was amazing with battery life, but somehow Moto put a camera in that phone that even with 21 mp, I struggled to get anything captured with even the slightest movement. Hugely let down. "But its a phone, not a camera" i was chastised...while being a fair enough point, if it wasnt working for me personally, than it was not the phone for me either. I went back to my Moto Maxx simply to get usable pictures again.
Wanting a change, and with the G4 release date nothing but rumors, I gave the galaxy s6 a shot. Good phone, cool camera, but I swear you could watch the battery drain on that phone while reading a web article. Literally watch the life drain from the phone. So once again, wasnt the phone for me. Packaged her back up, and returned it.
Preordered the Verizon LG G4 and literally had it the next day. Right off the bat, something about the phone...just felt different, fun, and like it was an amazing change from the moto experience I was too scared to give up. The phone felt big, yet perfectly fits in my hand and pocket. Felt light but also sturdy. Not indestructible, but sturdy. It comes with an offer for an extra battery, which of course I sent in...but ill be honest...this baby charges so fast, and the battery handles itself so well for what I use the phone for, I highly doubt Ill even need to swap out the battery all that much, if ever, but knowing there is that option...its reassuring anyway. The operating system is easy to learn, intuitive, and so smooth!
The camera...yup...its as good as advertised. I am always going to laughingly look back at Motorola advertising the turbo as "a powerhouse 21 mp camera at the flick of your wrist, so you wont miss ANY of the action". I guess they forgot a footnote ..."unless any of the action entails the slightest movement or challenging lighting situation". I WANT to go out and take pictures again. I WANT to capture so many more things I wasnt able to before.
So if you have read this far, I thank you! Just really happy about this phone, and LG has a new phone customer for as long as they keep making phones this great! Its nice to not settle but to have a phone that does everything right that you want done.
