Bootloop?

It's too bad that LG has experienced this. I personally think their manufacturing line has a ton of potential - and I use LG products as well - but this bootloop issue certainly hurts them. Hopefully the V20 line will either miss this issue or maybe LG has plans in the works to better combat the problem... But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Read about it on the g4, g5, & v10... Can we expect to encounter it on the v20 as well?
Why haven't they fixed it? Yeah, I know, dumb question.

I had no bootloop on my v10 and I had it for nearly a year. I only switched to V20 because the battery sucked

I almost made it to the one year mark with my V10 too but around 10 months mine zapped out without warning. The replacement device seems fine but so did my first one.

Verizon was very good at replacing my G4 when it bootlooped a couple of days ago. They shipped one to me overnight. For a $20 fee that I chose to pay. Otherwise it would've taken 3-5 days. They said if it happens again they will look into replacing it with a different phone. LG has lost my trust which is why I don't think I could get a V20.

Any phone I get has to have expandable storage though. I take a lot of photos and videos with my phone and also edit them on my phone. Even shooting in 1080p my 32 GB card will fill up fast.

Yeah I feel you. The one cool thing about the Pixel phones is the uncompressed unlimited cloud storage in photos and 4k video but I prefer to have my photos and video on a physical piece of hardware like the phone itself or an sd card. I've been reluctant to get the V20 but I'm all in. The two major issues ice seen can be avoided even though they should work like LG advertised.

Problem you can only utilize that storage when using the pixel phones...its not giving you free universal google drive space.....and cloud services can be wonky and cause more battery drain...I prefer real physical memory too

Yeah that's the only thing with that. I love the idea of getting day a on 8gb storage card for one particular trip as well and being able to label it and put it away. There's some benefits to either side.

I'm wondering if Google photos works in the background to automatically back up photos without having to open the app on Pixel phones. I know on my G4 I have to open the Photos app to start the backup. And sometimes it won't always work in the background. I know I had one video that I had shot and edited on my phone that was 14 minutes long and it would not upload to Photos. It was only 1080p.

I'm not sure that's the same as the famous boot loop issue. When they boot loop they are usually bricked. Something is wrong with that phone from out of the box and instead of running test results with a baby crying in the background I think I would just return it to from whence it came.

So much for the 60,000 supposed "tests" that LG was to have run on this phone.

Joe, you're scaring the hell out of me..mine gets here tomorrow! Hopefully it'll either be fine, or bootloop within 14 days..lol
The one thing with bootlooping is that your carrier may let you switch the device after it happens more than once if it does without penalty to you. Or at least they should be understanding that the issue is out of your control and allow you to switch to a device of equal value.

We had 5 total since launch with bootlooping issues that were returned.

Where? Just did a Google search. Could only find one that claimed it boot looped after an update. Could be something went wrong during the update. The video in this thread is it your typical boot loop and it was like that out of the box.

Besides the actual bootloop issue where the phone becomes bricked usually takes months to happen. Months.
