    If a Samsung has been rooted, Knox will have been tripped so you are likely to get this result along with secure type apps such as banking, Pay etc not working.

    You don't need to root the phone. Put the SD card in a card reader connected to your PC and run the recovery software.

    Smart Switch creates a folder on your PC for loading in Smart Switch. I don't see any .bk files so I'm not sure what you have done.
