    Cases for the Nexus 6P

Is it like sandpaper? How is the grip while using it one-handed?

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

Yes! This is probably my only complaint about the phone. I'm not sure why they put them right where your hand rests when holding the phone, rather than up and out of the way.

Honestly, I don't see the need for grippy sides. Grip=friction, and when you're holding it by the sides, you have opposition (squeezing force) and don't need much friction. Most people can hold on to an ice cube with a thumb and one finger as long as they have opposition. It's when you try to...

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

Yeah, I'm generally very careful with anything electronic or expensive. I've never dropped my phone, so I figure if I do and it breaks, I'll buy another. The sum total of all the protective cases, insurance plans, and deductibles costs more than a new phone, anyway.

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

2.5 years is enough of a usage pattern to fall outside the bounds of luck. Fabric will not scratch glass, so if people with empty pockets are getting scratches, they're doing something else to put them there. The phone I had previously didn't have Gorilla Glass, and it ended up with quite a...

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

I don't see the point in them. My soon-to-be-replaced-by-the-Nexus-6p phone has a Gorilla Glass display, and after 2.5 years of riding caseless in pockets with coins and keys, there's literally not a single scratch on it.

What do you NOT like about YOUR Moto X Pure Edition?

Re: What do you NOT like about the Moto X Pure Edition? I'm not sure why that's a big deal. The value proposition is important to a lot of people. For me, I'd rather pay more for something I want than pay less for something I don't, but if I can get what I want for less, all the better. Two...

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

Yeah, describing feel in words is pretty much an effort in futility. The only reason I would use a case at all is to reduce the slipperiness of the back. My old phone has a very tacky back which I love, but it seems like most phones today are intentionally designed to be more slippery. Hard...

    Cases for the Nexus 6P

So to be clear, the microfiber is somehow tacky, as in it provides extra grip for the fingers when they leave the side to stretch the thumb across the display when using it one-handed?

I couldn't disagree more strongly. I'm not sure why you need grip enhancement for the sides at all. If you have your hand on one edge and fingers on the other, you have opposition and a gentle squeeze will keep it in place. But when you go to reach your thumb all the way across the screen...

A drill will fix that in pretty short order.

Camera not living up to expectations

While it's true you can get more digital zoom with more pixels, detail preservation is a function of the quality of the lens and image sensor, not the number of pixels. My 16MP micro-four-thirds camera, for example, will preserve detail better than any cellphone. While this is true, the...

Camera not living up to expectations

Note that background blur is often intended, being particularly desirable for portraits. It's hard to pull off on a cellphone because of the tiny image sensor, but in general, the closer the lens is to the subject, the more out-of-focus the background will be.

Holy jeez this phone is freaking amazing (Update: Review LIVE!)

Re: Holy jeez this phone is freaking amazing The 6P is taller, yes, but the relevant measurements for holding it are width and thickness. The 6P and XPE are about the same width, but the 6P is quite a bit thinner (bear in mind the thickness listed for the 6P is at the bulge -- it's even thinner...

I got my Nexus 5X (First Impressions, User Reviews)

Re: Mine has just been delivered I hear that. And maybe the more important question is: why would anyone care? Do people really need that kind of reassurance about their phone?? It's just a little rectangle, and everybody else has one almost exactly like it. It seems a bit like complimenting...
