im using the cable and charger that came with the pixel. One thing I just noticed. I can cause it to happen if I use the USB to USB type C cable they included with the pixel and then try to use the USB type C to USB type C they included with it.

I turned off bluetooth and restarted my car...it still didnt stop until all had cycled.

I had the exact same issue, I had to remove the music files and then add them in the Google play manager on my computer by syncing google music with iTunes. Pain but now works
