Are any of the 4 screen modes easier on the battery than the others? Seems adaptive looks the best but it's analyzing in the background so wouldn't it use more juice?

I really like the look of the stock sms app but the screen turning on with every sms is a deal breaker. My friend has an S10 and his doesn't do this. Is there any way to turn this off or am I sticking with Textra.

So is turning "disable background refresh" off the same as disabling background data?

Battery saver has the option for disabling background refresh. Just wondering the difference between that and just turning off auto sync. Thanks!

I set everything to fastest setting in nova and turn off animations in dev options, no lag or stutter whatsoever. This thing is a beast.

He's talking about going right to the app of the notification when pressing that notification.

Did that. Set it to 4 so it didn't have "pop up". It still pops up and also turns my screen on.

As in I'd need to keep DND on? That's not an option.

If anyone knows how to disable heads up notifications as well system wide I'd love to know that too :)

Using the stock messaging app. I've set the priority to 4 "make sound" only, but my screen still turns on when I get a new message. Is there a way to disable this "feature" or do I need to go to a different app. I'll go back to Textra if I have to but I like the stock app and want to continue...

I set DND to be like the old priority only, and then use silent mode (hit the bell above the volume slider) like the old priority mode. I never used total silence so works the same for me :)

Is there something changed from O? I move app into priv-app and it just bootloops.

Having same issue. OG pixel XL. Did a factory reset back to stock June 8.1 and it's not there.
