Aww.. I've just discovered that the screen works and it displays something. It is only visible when I put a flashlight on. The backlight just doesn't work for 'most' of the times... :(

maybe the video format was plain unsupported. try using mx player

best use of it was putting your favorite psp games on it then play it with ppsspp. or put your numerous albums or your favorite music videos.

if it has removable battery charge it with clip charger then go to recovery. Or while the phone was off plug in your charger before the bootlogo show up while holding down the combo buttons to boot into recovery.
