If you connect to wifi connections that have the same name as other ones you have previously connected to example xfinitywifi it will connect automatically if wifi is on when you are near the Hotspot aka router

Are you on a custom ROM or official firmware

Go to settings and go to apps then scroll down to Google play and click then on it and clear data and cache then go down to Google play services and click on it and wipe data and wipe cache then reboot try also updating Google play app by going to the settings and clicking on build version...
