I don't think HTC can make a full comeback, they are too far behind and there are tons of "new" companies coming up now like One+ and Oppo. It'll be really hard for HTC to capture the market again, even if they manage to innovate.

I'm guessing you are talking about Google Calendar. Open app > click on burger icon on the top left > Settings > Holidays > all your followed calanders should be listed there, touch them, it'll open up a box, from there uncheck "Holidays In The United States".

Haven't noticed any issues with battery life but I am facing the overheating problem. What do you find that it overheats? In my case I notice that the CPU gets really hot even after basic usage, battery temps are normal.

Clear out more space, you will need around 550MB of free space to download and install the update. Try clearing cache as suggested above or deleting some apps.
