Thanks for the heads up. Maybe Google will offer more ways to customize the AOD in the next OS release. I think for now I will try a few AOD apps to see if they work better or try to install Samsung's version.

No one has any answers about the burn in on the screen or how to fix it?

Just a bit more information. On the screen issue it looks like the keyboard is burned into the screen. Not sure how to fix this. I know when I was running the custom kernel mod there was no problems with the colors on the screen or keyboard burn in.
