To be sure, you know that the Nexus 4 doesn't have an active LTE radio in it, right? In other words, unless you're rooted and have turned your LTE radio on, you wouldn't be able to get LTE with that phone even if it was in your area.

I've read from numerous sources that the Spare Phone app delivers superior quality to GrooveIP but I haven't had the chance to try it myself yet.

I have the unlimited plan. Used 7 gigs last month and didn't get throttled at all.

Just tried it again, my ping was 278 and his was 567. Results were similar to what I said before. I guess that would account for some of the difference. Still seems a little slow for LTE though IMO...

Just remember, you won't get T-Mobile HSPA+ with the AT&T One X. So, if you're out of range of LTE, you'll probably be on EDGE unless you live in a refarmed area. Good luck and keep us posted!

Re: what are so many T-Mobile areas still 2G/EDGE only? Exactly. If you live in the middle of the country then, chances are, T-Mobile isn't for you. Along the coasts and major metropolitan areas T-Mobile is faster and cheaper than most.
