I've installed it manually and to be honest my 2012 Nexus 7 works really fine now. Its worth the upgrade.

Google is really slow with the updating process. A big fail for such a big company if you ask me.

I also have a Nexus 7 that didn't receive the 5.0 update. To be honest I got bored of waiting and just installed it manually. Took 10 minutes if you know what you are doing.

Learn Java first and some XML. There are tons of great books out there about Java.

There are some really good Java books out there. I highly advise you to read and learn Java first then switch to Android. I'm not sure you can just learn Android as a beginner. Start with Java, some XML and databases (MySQL is great).

I think WIndows store has one time fee only now. Android is still very very cheap at $25. But you get what you paid for, like terrible customer support (inexistant), bans and warnings without anything you can do about etc.

Since I am a Java developer at heart, I've bought the Nexus 4 mainly to start app development for Android.

Man Android Lollipop is so full of bugs. I have a friend that works at Google and he told me that Lollipop has at least 200.000 opened bugs.
