I don't have any links to back this up, but when I did some research on this yesterday, the general consensus is that manufacturers charge providers (verizon, at&t, etc..) for features on the phone. Verizon chose not to pay for these. It's really the only way I can explain how at&t charges $830...

$830 at AT&T. Don't see it being any cheaper on other carriers.

I have the same issue. Instead of a reboot I just turn off mobile data then turn it back on. Still a pain, but not as bad as a reboot.

Just did the update following the Reddit post and all went well. Do I need to delete the SoftwareUpdate folder and patch file now? Will it impact future updates if I don't?

Tested in the car with my generic 2.1 amp charger and it still charges just as good even with the red x.

So even with the red X the phone is still charging? I just updated to KitKat this morning and noticed the red X in my car.

Nevermind...forgot I have it set up to check my work email. Exchange has a remote wipe option which I just implemented. Thanks for looking anyway!

Slamming car door, meet phone screen. Screen lost that fight. The phone still works if I use bluetooth to make and receive calls, but I can't see anything. I put in an insurance claim and will have a new phone in 2 days. I have to send the old one back but I'd like to factory reset it prior...

Never had a bluetooth headset. Sure would like one though!

I'll get 2 or 3 a day, then nothing for a week, then 2 more reboots, nothing for a few days, rinse and repeat.

The clip does rotate. It's tough to rotate though, which is a good thing I think. The phone doesn't spin around when it's clipped to your belt that way.
