To enable Developer options, go to Settings >System>About, tap Build number 7 times. Enjoy. :-)

That is a lot more than what I'm seeing, although I've only had mine a couple of days, and since it's new the first few days are not indicative of normal usage. Do you have some settings turned off, like Gestures, etc.?

I think I've figured this out. The trick is to go to Settings>Developer options and enable Stay awake when charging . This works even if you have the display always on turned off.
