Ok, so not much has been said about this new rugged Android phone on VZW, so I had to see it for myself. First off, the unit is lighter than I was expecting, but felt solid. While the screen was smaller than I was use to, the UI was user friendly and had a few features that surprised me. Overall it felt like froyo, but the launcher had a button that you swipe open for a "quick launch" folder. Very handy.
The other thing that impressed me was the "swype like" keyboard. It seemed basic but worked well, and was easy to type with.
It also has a collection of included apps that any outdoor enthusiast would find handy. It has an accurate compass widget, pedometer and a virtual trek app.
If you need a device that is as tough as your job, or you are just really tough on your phone, I would check out the Commando.
