Samsung Update

My son got message saying his Samsung Galaxy Tend plus needs software update.. just wanted to know how big this update is it's OA and tried Google and shows custom rooms ranging from 900MB to just over 1G is it same? Sorry I'm not that bright in the android software department

Welcome to Android Central! What's the exact message? Is it a notification in the status bar, that gives you more details if you swipe down and tap it? Or is it a popup that tells you to tap a link? Also what carrier is the phone on?

The Trend is a relatively old budget phone (released 4/2013), so it's unlikely it's getting any major system update. It's possible it could be a security update being pushed by the carrier or by Samsung. But it's also possible that it's a bogus message that's trying to lure him into tapping a link that might be malicious.
