Switch to G Power from Note 4

I have had Verizon service for years, now on their pre-paid plan for my Galaxy Note 4 from post-paid to save $. I just bought a Verizon-labelled Moto G Power to replace the Note. I want to move my Verizon account to the new phone. I have not looked but assume the G contains a SIM card with start-up Verizon data and setup instructions unrelated to my old phone. Please tell me what I should do with the old SIM card. The vendor says to simply remove the G SIM card (if any) and replace it with the card from the Note 4. Is that correct? I want the G to recognize my current Verizon plan so I can seamlessly start using the new phone. Could someone please verify the correct procedure? Thanks very much.
