This page claims the new Moto X has a barometer sensor: Motorola Moto X (2014) - Full phone specifications

But all the apps I've used on the Nexus 5 to measure air pressure/altitude claim there is no barometer in it.

Does anybody have thoughts on this? Thanks.

I believe some phones have them for GPS, buy they are not always accessible for 3rd party apps. I think...

Yesterdays firmware update fixed it now the apps can see the barometer! Motorola is FAST when it comes to fixing things.

Correction: this did not fix it, I was looking at the wrong section of the app (the one showing pressure in my town, not measured by my phone).
