Vibration notification even with Moto Assist - Sleep/Facebook Messenger/Phone on silent

So I was asleep and woken up by a facebook message from the facebook messenger app. The strange thing is that not only was my phone on the moto assist - sleep mode... but I'm also pretty sure that my phone was set to silent. Is this possible, or was my phone actually on vibrate.

Clearly MA - Sleep didn't work as I thought it would, but hopefully there's not some other weird glitch where the silent function didn't work either.

I'm an android noob btw. This is my first android phone.

Lot's of views but no replies. No one has had any experience with Moto Assist Sleep not working properly with this application, or any others perhaps?
