how to upload custom sounds/notifiers?

does anyone know where to put ringtones/notifiers on the sd card so that you will see them in the list to chose when changing the tone?

The folder System>Media>audio>ringtones on my original Droid.

Create those folders on your SD card and you'll be all set
So under Media/Audio
You need the following subdirectories
Alarms
Notifications
Ringtones

Each one has its purpose, i.e., notification sounds go, you guessed it, in the Media/Audio/Notifications directory and etc.

There's also Motorola's Media sync application. It wasn't the greatest when it first came out, but several updates later it's working great for me now. You can create your own ringtones within the program and it will automatically put them in the right spot on your phone.

looks like you have to reboot the phone for the sounds to show up after you put them on the sd card...

You can put the 3 folders on the root of your sd as well.
