ringer volume question. how to make it twice as loud

I can't hardly hear the phone ring when its in my pocket. Is there an app or a hack to somehow change the phones settings. I was reading on crackberry that they could get into the software and make it louder. Or do we need to root the x for this to happen?

Needed root for the Droid for the louder volume but I'll check some apps for this that don't require root

Thanks for checking it out. I'm new to Android and there wasn't anything in the market.

It wouldn't be the end of the world but sometimes the job sites get pretty loud.

Its just for root users sadly

Haven't found anything for louder volume that doesn't need root which makes sense, you're gonna have to have superuser to be able to go beyond what they have volume programmed for. Sorry folks. But it won't stop me from trying to get root on this bad boy! . Louder volume is always a plus

I downloaded a' loud' ringtone and that was louder and made a difference
