Disabling the 3G

So, my trusty Droid OG is about to get it's well earned retirement from active duty. My Galaxy Nexus should arrive on Monday.

However, I plan to keep the Droid around for the games on it and for WiFi access.

Now, it will clearly be disconnected from Verizon once my Nexus is activated. Is there a way I can disable the 3G radio completely so it doesn't provide any wasted drain on the battery?

Simply hold down the power button, select Airplane Mode, then turn wifi on...that disables the phone radio and makes it a wifi only device.
