I've been trying to find a solution to this issue I have regarding silencing my phone but couldn't find a solution that works so I thought I'd try here.
I have a 6P and a Huawei watch. My work involves proctoring exams that require total silence (so no vibration mode either). However, I need to still be able to get text alerts visually, preferably through my watch.
Do not disturb mode does not work because it essentially eliminates notifications sent to my watch. There is a setting in Android Wear that supposedly "Mute phone alerts & calls" but that doesn't seem to work because although text messages are silent, phone calls came through loud and clear (found this out the hard way in a meeting).
TLDR: Need a mode that enables total silence but still lets me see notifications on my watch.
