Is there a way to remove lock screen shortcuts from Nexus 6p running oreo?

[Android Central Question]

I absolutely love my Nexus 6p...or I did until I updated to Oreo anyway. Now I accidentally turn on the cameral every time I pull my phone out of my pocket. This never happened before the lock screen shortcuts included in the Oreo "update." My battery seems to not last as long as it used either but I can't tell if it is caused by Oreo or not. I would prefer not to root or flash my phone if possible. Any helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
