New Optimus V User

Just got my VM670 a couple weeks ago, and I love it. Me and my wife both got one. The only other real smartphone I've owned that I can compare this to is my old HTC Hero, and in my opinion, this is slightly better. The Swype is awesome. It comes in handy all the time when I've only got one hand for messaging. I did wonder if there are any recommended apps for maintaining the phone. I plan on doing a permanent root tonight. Also, I'm kinda new to all the Android thing, and I was wondering about other recommendations on what to do to my phone to harness the full potential of it. Any info is welcomed.

I would start with GrooveIP a VOIP that uses Google Voice to make ur phone unlimit talk also.

Full potential?

Install a custom recovery, and rom. Most of the custom roms come with a custom kernel as well, which is overclockable. 480/768 is good for most people. Some phones can go higher. Start with the Reference thread that is stickied.
