So, I actually had zero problems with the fingerprint sensor when I had that plastic protector on. About a month ago I switched to dome glass protector and my scanner sucked after that. I registered my finger again after install. Did it 4 times on the same finger and it was still crap. Yesterday I was bored and was messing with my settings to kill time and I turned off the touch sensitivity and now it's much improved. Still not as good as before but much more reliable again. Maybe TC should try to turn off that setting? It might help

For me, I had no issues with the in house screen protector. After the length of time and use it started to lift and I bought a about 5 from Amazon and Ebay. All were useless. Then went on a trip to London and called in Samsung shop. Had a brilliant screen protector fitted by the instore fitters by the name of mobile outfitters, moutfitters.co.uk . Brilliant. No problems with fingerprint access and highly satisfied. Made my day.
