Messaging/Keyboard glitch on Verizon Note 3?

I didn't see this posted previously (sorry if it was) but I am experiencing more of an annoying issue with my Note 3. After sending a text message I put my phone down with the messaging app still open and the keyboard still displaying. After a few seconds the phone goes black and locks as expected but when I hit the power button to turn the screen back on, the keyboard is still showing despite the phone being locked.

Anyone experience this as well? Maybe its just my device.
