There is a soft reset, rebooting the device.

Hard reset is pulling the battery to reset the device. This refreshes the cache/flash memory.

Wiping the device, would be going into security settings and resetting to out of the box factory settings.

Bonus about actually wiping your phone if you got a really bad bug with a program interacting with the phone.

You can always try clearing the cache on the device. But be careful. You're putting it in boot mode.

Turn off your device.
Pull the battery.
Wait two minutes and reinsert the battery.
Hold the volume up key, the home key and the power button at the same time.
It will boot up and you'll have a blue menu.
Using volume down rocker, select clear cache.
Use the power button to confirm selection.
Then select reboot device.

The above sometimes helps after deleting a program abd the device still acting funny.

I guess I should asked this on the beginning, but what's your problem?

Palm Treo line > BlackBerry line > Samsung Galaxy S line > NOW the awesome & powerful Samsung Galaxy Note 3! 😆📱😆
